Why Blackjack Is the Smart Player's Game

Of all the games on the 10jli floor — slots, bingo, sabong, live roulette — blackjack is the one that gives a skilled player the best mathematical chance. With basic strategy applied correctly, the house edge can drop to as low as 0.5%, making it one of the most player-friendly casino games on the planet. That is not luck. That is knowledge paying off.

Filipino players have been drawn to blackjack for decades. Walk into any land-based casino along Roxas Boulevard in Manila or at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, and you will find full blackjack tables at every hour. 10jli brings that same energy to your phone — whether you are commuting from Quezon City to Makati, taking a break in Davao, or relaxing at home after a long day. Our live dealer blackjack tables run 24/7, staffed by professional dealers streamed in crystal-clear high definition.

The goal is simple: get a hand closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. But the depth of strategy — knowing when to hit, stand, double down, or split — is what separates a regular player from one who consistently walks away ahead. At 10jli, we want every Filipino player to walk in informed, play smart, and enjoy every hand.

Basic Blackjack Strategy for Filipino Players

Basic strategy is not cheating — it is just playing the mathematically optimal move on every hand. Memorize this table and you cut the house edge to nearly zero.

Your Hand Dealer Shows 2–6 Dealer Shows 7–9 Dealer Shows 10–A
Hard 8 or less Hit Hit Hit
Hard 9 Double Hit Hit
Hard 10 Double Double Hit
Hard 11 Double Double Double
Hard 12–16 Stand Hit Hit

Soft 16–18 Double Hit Hit
Soft 19–20 Stand Stand Stand

Pair of 5s / 10s Never Split Never Split Never Split

Based on standard 6-deck, dealer-stands-soft-17 rules used on most 10jli tables.

Legend
Hit— Request one more card
Stand— Keep your current total
Double— Double bet, one more card
Split— Divide pair into two hands

Mastering basic strategy is the single most impactful thing any 10jli player can do. It does not require card counting — just learning the right move for every hand versus every dealer upcard.

10 Blackjack Tips for Filipino Players

Whether you are playing your first hand or your thousandth at 10jli, these tips will sharpen your game.

01
Never take Insurance

Insurance looks tempting when the dealer shows an Ace, but it pays 2:1 on a side bet with less-than-even odds. Over hundreds of hands, it is a consistent money drain. Ignore it.

02
Always Split Aces and 8s

Two Aces gives you the chance at two blackjacks. Two 8s turns a weak hard 16 into two decent starting hands. This is non-negotiable in basic strategy.

03
Set a session budget before you log in

Decide your maximum loss for the session before you open 10jli — and honor it. Use the deposit limit tools in your account settings to enforce it automatically.

04
Double on 10 or 11 when dealer is weak

When you hold 10 or 11 and the dealer shows 2 through 9, doubling your bet is statistically the highest-value play. Do not back down from it.

05
Stand on hard 12–16 when dealer shows 2–6

The dealer is in the bust zone. Your job is to survive, not improve. Let the dealer bust and collect your winnings without the risk of going over 21 yourself.

06
Choose tables where Blackjack pays 3:2

Some tables pay only 6:5 for blackjack — this dramatically increases the house edge. At 10jli, our featured tables pay the traditional 3:2. Always check the table rules before sitting down.

07
Practice on RNG tables first

New to blackjack? Start on our digital RNG tables at 10jli. Lower stakes, no time pressure, and a relaxed environment to drill basic strategy before joining a live dealer room.

08
Never chase losses

After a bad run, the temptation to bet bigger to "recover" is one of the most dangerous instincts in gambling. Stick to your unit size and accept that variance is part of the game.

09
Avoid side bets unless you track your bankroll

Side bets like Perfect Pairs and 21+3 have much higher house edges than the main game. They are fun occasionally but should not be your primary bet on every hand.

10
Use GCash for fast deposits and withdrawals

At 10jli, GCash and Maya deposits are instant. Having your bankroll ready to go means you never miss a seat at a hot table. Withdrawals back to GCash are equally fast.

Blackjack Rules Explained

New to blackjack? These are the core rules you need to understand before your first hand at 10jli.

The objective in blackjack is to beat the dealer's hand without exceeding 21. You are not playing against other players at the table — only against the dealer. If your hand totals higher than the dealer's without going over 21, you win even money on your bet (1:1). If you are dealt an Ace and a 10-value card on the first two cards, that is a Blackjack — which pays 3:2 at 10jli's featured tables.

Number cards (2–10) are worth their face value. Face cards — Jack, Queen, King — are all worth 10. The Ace is special: it counts as either 1 or 11, whichever helps your hand more. A hand containing an Ace counted as 11 is called a "soft" hand. A hand with an Ace counted as 1 (to avoid busting) is called a "hard" hand.

Hit — Draw an additional card. You can hit as many times as you like until you stand or bust (exceed 21).

Stand — Keep your current hand and end your turn.

Double Down — Double your original bet and receive exactly one more card, then stand. Best used when you have a strong total (9, 10, or 11) against a weak dealer upcard.

Split — When your first two cards are a pair, you can split them into two separate hands by placing an equal second bet. Each hand is then played independently.

At 10jli's standard tables, the dealer must hit on any hand of 16 or less and stand on all hands of 17 or higher — including soft 17. This rule (S17) is more favorable to the player than H17 tables where the dealer hits soft 17. The dealer's decisions are mandatory and follow fixed rules, unlike the player who can make strategic choices.

If your hand total exceeds 21, you "bust" and lose your bet immediately — regardless of what the dealer does afterward. This is the primary risk of hitting on high totals. If the dealer busts and you have not, you win automatically. If both bust, the player loses first (this is where the house edge fundamentally comes from).

If your hand totals the same as the dealer's at the end of the round, the result is a push (a tie). Your bet is returned to you with no winnings and no losses. This is common in blackjack — roughly 8–9% of hands end in a push. It is neutral for your bankroll.

Key Blackjack Terms to Know

These are the words you will hear at the 10jli blackjack tables. Know them before you sit down.

♠️
Natural / Blackjack

An Ace plus any 10-value card on your first two cards. Pays 3:2 at standard 10jli tables. The best possible opening hand.

🪨
Hard Hand

A hand with no Ace, or one where the Ace must be counted as 1 to avoid busting. Hard 16 is the most challenging hand in the game.

🌊
Soft Hand

A hand where the Ace is counted as 11. Soft hands cannot bust on a single hit, making them excellent candidates for doubling down.

💀
Bust Card

The card that pushes your total over 21. If the dealer shows a 2–6 as their upcard, they are considered "bust prone" — a key element of basic strategy.

🔄
Surrender

Available on some 10jli tables — you can fold your hand and recover half your bet before the dealer checks for blackjack. Best used on hard 16 vs dealer 10.

🎰
Side Bet

Optional bets like Perfect Pairs or 21+3 placed alongside the main wager. Higher house edge but adds excitement. Play sparingly as a supplement.

🃏
Upcard

The dealer's one visible card. Your entire strategic decision — hit, stand, double, or split — revolves around your hand versus the dealer's upcard.

🏦
Bankroll

Your total gambling budget for a session or period. Protecting your bankroll with proper bet sizing is as important as playing correct strategy at 10jli.
